The properties of pineapple

Pineapple is a tropical fruit that is found all over the world today and which, depending on the season, comes back to us at a reasonable price.

Although often presented in canned food and in syrup, we recommend that you always consume it fresh to be able to take full advantage of its properties:

  • Pineapple is diuretic and depurative.
  • It promotes the elimination of toxins.
  • Prevents constipation.
  • It aids digestion.
  • Burn fat.
  • It  is rich in vitamin C, vitamins B1 and B6, folic acid and potassium.
  • It contains an enzyme called bromelain which aids digestion and eliminates intestinal parasites.

Pineapple-based recipes

Pineapple Chicken Salad

Ingredients

  • 1 steamed chicken
  • 1 fresh pineapple
  • A big apple
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 lettuce

For the sauce

  • A few small tablespoons of olive oil
  • Two nuts
  • Two small stalks of celery
  • A little grain mustard
  • Lemon juice
  • Pinch of pepper

Preparation

  1. We start by washing the lettuce and cut it into small pieces according to the desired amount, then we wash the apple and pineapple, peel them and cut them into pieces.
  2. Then we peel the celery and we grate it, we put it in a salad bowl and we add the lemon juice, the nuts cut into small pieces, a pinch of pepper and the mustard seeds. It is left to macerate for half an hour.
  3. Once the chicken is steamed, it is boned and cut into thin slices.
  4. Finally, we put all the ingredients in the salad bowl. The e chicken, apple, pineapple, celery, nuts. This mixture has a savory taste of lemon and mustard. Here is a salad as healthy as it is delicious!

Pineapple pie (allowed for diabetics)

Ingredients

  • 1 fresh pineapple
  • 200 gr of shortcrust pastry (or puff pastry)
  • 3 tablespoons of cream; you can use reverse cream or plain yogurt without sugar
  • 100 gr of toasted pine nuts
  • 15 raisins

Preparation

  1. First put the puff pastry in the oven until golden brown. Then, pour in the chosen cream, homemade or replaced by yogurt or reverse cream without sugar. Or even with a jam for diabetics. To this cream, we add pine nuts and raisins.
  2. Then, cut the pineapple into thin strips and place them on the cream already spread over the dough. Return the pie to the oven for 10 minutes so that the pineapple browns a little, then the pie will be ready. It’s a simple and healthy dessert, and suitable for diabetics!

Stuffed pineapple

Pineapple stuffed recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 pineapple
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon of cornflour (corn flour)
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • A little kirsch
  • 4 bananas
  • Egg white
  • Pineapple juice

Preparation

  1. First cut the pineapple in half lengthwise and empty it to keep the two skins that will serve as a mold.
  2. Prepare the cream:  beat the 3 egg yolks with the spoonful of cornstarch, the 3 spoonfuls of sugar and a little kirsch. Beat everything well until the mixture becomes creamy, then put it on the heat in a saucepan with the pineapple juice and stir well until it thickens.
  3. Mix the bananas and the flesh of the already prepared pineapple to obtain a paste as homogeneous as possible. Add it to the cream that was on the stove. The resulting cream is simply delicious!
  4. Finally, put this cream in the two pineapple shells that were emptied previously. Beat the egg whites and put the resulting meringue on the cream as a decoration. Brown for a few minutes under the oven grill, and this dessert will be ready to be served.

Pineapple juice for weight loss

A pineapple juice.

Ingredients

  • 2 pineapple slices
  • Half a lemon
  • 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar
  • 1 glass of water

Preparation

  1. This juice is easy to prepare and it is a juice that should be taken in the morning. Cut 2 slices of fresh pineapple, and mix them well until the juice thickens a little.
  2. Then prepare a glass of water and add two spoonfuls of apple cider vinegar, lemon juice and pineapple juice to it. It might surprise you a bit, but this drink is great not only because it burns fat but also because it aids digestion. Do not hesitate to make the recipe!
